While it is not certified organic, our Self Tanner is made up of 81% water and certified organic ingredients, the other 19% are naturally derived ingredients and it does not include any potentially harmful additives.

The active ingredient in our self tanner is Dihydroxyacetone (DHA, sugar cane-derived), which gives the top layer of the skin a bronzed glow. Non-GMO and overflowing with plant-based goodness. It’s backed up by a carefully selected combination of supporting ingredients, including organic aloe vera leaf juice (for luscious hydration), organic shea butter (for maximum moisturization), and organic pomegranate and cranberry extract (because who doesn’t love a bit of fruitiness in their self tanner?).

We can’t pinpoint the exact number of days – that will vary based on your application method, skin type, and how often you reapply. Many of our customers who have left self tanner reviews report that their tan lasted 5-7 days.

1. Prep
   Start by exfoliating with a loofah, exfoliating pad or body scrub to remove dead skin cells — this helps your tan go on evenly and last longer. Apply a light layer of moisturizer to your feet, ankles, wrists, and elbows with moisturizer beforehand, as these areas are more porous and can absorb more product. Tip: wait a day or two after shaving before applying.
   
2. Apply
   Squeeze a quarter-size amount onto your mitt or applicator brush and start from your legs, working your way up in long sweeping motions for a seamless, streak-free finish. Go lighter on your wrists, ankles, and hands and blend well — these areas absorb product more readily. For your back, a back applicator helps ensure even coverage. If you're using your hands, make sure to wash them after.
   
3. Develop
   Wait at least an hour before showering, swimming, or doing any kind of exercise. Your full tan will show up beautifully after 6–8 hours. For a deeper shade, apply a second coat after approximately one hour.
   
4. Maintain
   Keep skin moisturized daily — hydrated skin holds onto your tan much longer.

Our self tanner can provide great color, but it won’t protect you from the sun as it does not contain SPF ingredients. Make sure to keep up with your sunscreen routine no matter how often you use our tanner.

Exposure to UVA and UVB radiation can cause premature aging, including age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, and more. With enough time it can leave your skin looking tough and leathery. Our self tanner is filled with natural ingredients that are gentle on sensitive skin. However, with any new product, it’s always a good idea to do a test patch before using it on larger areas. As often as needed! Keep an eye on your tan, and when it starts to fade go ahead and reapply. Most customers find that their tan lasts about 7 days before fading, but if you notice a difference sooner, there’s no reason not to reapply.

Take the time to apply it right – exfoliate first, be generous with the amount you use, and use a self tanning mitt. We find that we can extend the life of our tan by sticking to warm (not hot) showers and by moisturizing daily.

An orange or overly dark tan usually means too much DHA for your skin tone — not that self tanner "doesn't work" on you. The fix is choosing the right shade and undertone match, then building your color gradually.

When in doubt, start with the lighter shade and add a second application once you know how your skin responds. You can always build — correcting orange is harder than going one step darker next time.

Yes — if you apply with bare hands and don't wash and exfoliate them properly, self tanner can collect on palms, knuckles, and cuticles and look orange.

We recommend applying with a tanning mitt, brush, or gloves for the most even, natural-looking results. If you prefer using your hands, you absolutely can — just make sure you REALLY exfoliate your hands beforehand and wash them thoroughly (including between fingers and around nails) as soon as you're done applying.

Every DHA-based self tanner can develop a characteristic "tanner" scent as the color activates — that's normal. Many brands mask it with heavy synthetic fragrances; we don't.
